Tim Slowinski is a self taught painter, gallery owner and art publisher. Slowinski's paintings can be descried as autobiographical, social surrealism. He takes elements from his personal history and combines them with contemporary and historical political and social themes. Over many years his paintings have evolved their own internal mythology, combining his invented characters and with some appropriated from commercial advertising. Slowinski owns and operates the Limner Gallery, established in 1987 at 216 E 10th St in Manhattan and presently located in Hudson, New York,. He is publisher of Direct Art Magazine and owner of the arts promotional organization SlowArt Productions.
