Joy is the CEO of an American Red Cross chapter in Eastern North Carolina, where she has lived and worked since 2002. Her volunteer experience covers a wide breadth of activities including, but not limited to, Red Cross board member, PTA president, high school math tutor, and softball coach. Joy was the recipient of a Highly Performing Chapter Award in 2008, Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2000, Woodland's Elementary School Volunteer of the Year 1995, and Glaxo President’s Award in 1991. Her professional experience includes 11 years with the pharmaceutical industry where she was the Manager of Medical and Professional Education,served on the Pew Foundation Task Force on Medical Education, Society College of Medical Directors CME Board, and Council on Nontheatrical Events Board of Directors. Joy is a native North Carolinian and received a BS in Textile Technology from NC State University. She currently resides in Swansboro with her son John and Border Collie named Buddy.
