Mr. Mark is an archaeologist and art historian. He earned his doctorate from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts in cooperation with their Department of Classics and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. He taught in the Departments of Art History and Classics at the University of Chicago and is presently an Associate Member of the Seminar on Classical Civilization at Columbia University. Over the course of his career he has received fellowships from the Woodrow Wilson National Foundation, the Fulbright Program, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Washington, D.C.’s, National Gallery of Art. He has published on the Sanctuary of Athena Nike at Athens, the frieze of the Parthenon, and other sculptures from the Akropolis. He is presently at work on a study of the Victory of Samothrace.
