A lifelong history lover and native Mississippian, Lisa Lacy collected books on the Civil War as a young girl and is still “mesmerized” by pictures and stories from the past. She has fond memories of visiting her relatives in Agricola, Mississippi in George County, just a few miles down the road from Brushy Creek.

Married to George County native Richard C. "Curt" Lacy since 1992, the couple along with son Keaton Alexander recently moved back to their home state. It was after she and her family arrived in the Mississippi Delta that she became inspired to finish her goal of sharing the stories of her paternal heritage learned from her father.

She hopes that "A Promise on Brushy Creek" will encourage others to discover and convey their own family stories of love, courage, hard work, and tragedy which have helped make us all who we are today.
