The author, Amy Insana is a high school guidance counselor for almost twenty years and a volunteer bereavement counselor with hospice. She lives on Long Island (NY) with her husband Phil, dog Elsa and cat Simba. This story was inspired by her Nanny, Hazel Miller who lives in an assisted living facility in Florida and battles Alzheimer's disease on a daily basis.
