Retired from a 30-year career as a pediatrician, Al “Doc” Mehl moved from a city of 2,000,000 (Denver, Colorado) to a town of 2,000 (Black Diamond, Alberta) in 2017. He traces his roots to central Kansas, where his grandfather raised six children on a horse-and-plow homestead. With one foot in the past and one in the present, Doc Mehl weaves the history and the mystery of the West into his original poetry and music. Reviewer Rick Huff (The Western Way magazine) says, “There’s a unique mind at work here that may be one of a kind...he’ll make you laugh and then suddenly think, laugh some more, and then cry.
