Michael D. Brown (b. April, 1953), is an American short story writer, critic, journalist, and ex-professor. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he then lived in Manhattan, near Greenwich Village for a quarter century before moving to southern Mexico. He has lived and worked for many years as an English teacher in Chiapas, Mexico.

His work has appeared in many places on the Internet including the now defunct Six Sentences and Lit-Fire. He has written for Zoetrope, Fictionaut, House of Writers and several other venues. Caitlin & Mathias was written with Nicole Hirschi and self-published. The Light in Loreto was written with Álvaro Zúñiga. Gringo in Chiapas and Bastille Day were written for NaNoWriMo, and are not yet published.

Recently retired, he now devotes his full time to writing.
