Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Alberto discovered his passion for the ocean at an early age. From bodysurfing on his dad’s back to competing as a surfer, and later working a commercial diver, he knew the ocean was where he belonged.
​Photography also helped define who Alberto wanted to be. From a young age he collected images from surfing, diving and adventure magazines.
Arriving in Australia in 1987, the gifted free-surfer and developing image maker settled in Adelaide where he started to pursue a career in photography. For many years Alberto studied, worked and breathed photography.
Through a camera lens, Alberto harnesses the energy of waves to capture the wild beauty of the ocean. His work is a vivid exploration of the relationship between humans and the sea.
