Acerca del libro
Aboriginal Art UK and Linlithgow Burgh Halls present a new exhibition of 58 indigenous Australian artworks, including paintings by Mitjili Napanangka Gibson, Gloria Petyarre, Ngupulya Pumani, Taylor Cooper, Willy Tjungurrayi and Tiger Palpatja.
The catalogue includes all works shown at the exhibition as well as an overview of the incredible history of the longest surviving continuous culture in the world.
Aboriginal tribes came to Australia around 60,000 years ago. Their art tells their history with signs and symbols that have been used for thousands of years, it is a record of their sacred Dreamtime stories, knowledge of plants and animals, as well as a map of their lands.
Dreamtime is the creationist myth for the Aboriginal people, the basis of Aboriginal spiritual life. All living things are descended from the Dreamtime ancestors who shaped the earth, and much of the art tell their stories.
