Amidst the vast domain of the Chihauhan Desert, between the San Andres mountains to the west and the Sacramento mountains to the east, lies the mellifluously named Tularosa Basin of south-central New Mexico. Nestled within the Tularosa Basin are the world famous gypsum dunefields of White Sands. Covering a brethatking expanse of 275 square miles, the dunes of White Sands rise up in intricate formations of light and shadows, astounding the eye in their immensity and majesty.

Photographer Marjorie Kaufman captures the otherworldly essence of White Sands in this striking collection of black and white images taken in February 2015.

Marjorie Kaufman had long been interested in photography, but pressing obligations such as a career in finance, raising two boys and repeated unsuccessful attempts to improve her golf game kept interfering. Finally, in 2011 Marjorie began an intense program of study at the International Center of Photography in NY. Subsequently she self-published two collections of images: "(Un)Natural Elements By The Sound" and "Iceland in August". She continues to refine her technique through workshops with Sam Abell, Arthur Meyerson, Tony Bonanno and Tillman Crane. Marjorie's images have been published in Le Courrier and the Tico Times.
