Acerca del libro
This book is a window on to some of Sicily’s well known classical architecture and mosaics such as those found in The Valley of the Kings or at Villa Casale. But it also shows the incredible artefacts and delicate finds that were revealed from the excavations at Naxos, the one time centre of civilisation on Sicily. The book follows a journey and encapsulates the place and its people with evocative and beautiful images from the black volcanic landscape of Etna to the sparkling vistas from Taoramina interspersed with more intangible themes of place and people. It also discovers some of the more out of the way places such as the Jewish quarter of Taoramina where there is a gem of a galllery.

As a doctor I was faced with the constant narrative of human lives and as a photographer became fascinated with the narrative of place. Walking and photographing places I know well has become a pleasure, combining contemplation and creativity. The work I did during the MA photography course at Westminster University has helped to inform my work but it is my own experimentation into bookmaking that has allowed me to realise my ideas and produce tangible collections that I love to share with other people and photographers.
