Acerca del libro
“ I spent two weeks at Kwathu last year and towards the end I decided to start taking some intentional portraits of the kids. I believed in these images and realized if people saw them they could relate on a human level to the work that Kwathu is doing and would want to help,” said Lawrence. “As I looked back on these images I realized that I didn’t just have portraits, but a whole entire picture of a community. The goal of this book is to remind others of life outside of them and encourage people to give of their time and money in a way that is truly creating change.”
Currently Kwathu relies solely on donations and fundraising for day to day activities. In the past volunteers have had to seek out their own housing while visiting the home. Onsite housing will create easier opportunities for volunteers to come and help Kwathu while simultaneously creating a source of income for the home, lessening their reliance on donors. The proceeds from this book will go to help fulfill this need.
