Acerca del libro
A stunning historical record of Chinese life in the 18th Century, presented in a panorama of 24 hand-painted watercolours. From a hand scroll made in 1759 for the Emperor Qianlong, these copied pictures explore life in the countryside near Shanghai. They vividly illustrate the landscapes and everyday life in an area spanning several dozen km. In the bustling urban centre, viewers see countless traders and barges, as well as dense rows of shops.
The original scroll has become one of China's top art treasures. Measuring 8x10" or 20x15 cm, this booklet displays the full 12m (40') width of the original in half size.
With its English text explaining each scene, this becomes the perfect coffee-table book! In addition, it provides a chance for children to understand some of China's culture and history.
This hard-cover book is also available in soft cover at lower price.
