Acerca del libro
Jacek Kadaj’s My Warsaw is a celebration of how post-communist architecture is reshaping Poland’s capital. The city was largely rebuilt following the destruction of the Second World War and Jacek Kadaj’s gaze reveals how Warsaw continues to be master of reinvention.
The architecture of the prewar city, both surviving and rebuilt, features here too, as poignant traces of what was once the ‘Paris of the East’. And Jacek Kadaj also captures the receding socialist-realist cityscape: a wistful testament to the Warsaw of his childhood.
But it is the entrepreneurial energy of Warsaw’s recent past and present that is the central focus of the photographer’s lens. In these photographs, Jacek Kadaj frames a view of the Warsaw of today and tomorrow.
