Acerca del libro
Ma... Look! started off as an attempt to see Dublin from the viewpoint of a child. I did this by taking the photographs from waist level. The people in the photographs are unaware of the viewer, which is in one regard voyeuristic but children often get to witness things in a way that is unseen by the participants.
They are often ignored as they move through the city. Everyone and everything is larger than them. To have a child’s innocent and unaffected view of the world is something very precious in this age of multi-media and advertising.
In this project I asked myself to reassess my perspective. Do I really look or just see this city as I walk it’s streets and pass by it’s inhabitants. In this work I was able to return at a later time and gaze at a sight that is normally gone in an instant. To see Dubliners at the turn of the 21st century going about their daily business.
