The Alberts family history begins with farmers fleeing revolt and poverty in nineteenth century Germany. They would sail to New York and settle in Nebraska. They survived their new country's civil war. They served when asked to fight in the Great War. They survived when they fought in the second world war. This is the story of our family as they bravely made a life for themselves in a new world despite conflict and hardship. These are the Alberts and this is their story.

This book details nearly 250 years of the Retke-Suslay-Schwanke-Alberts-Wiegel family. The book is organized chronologically. Each family member has a brief biographical section. Pictures of the person were used if they were available. The book contains 400 photographs and nearly 100 biographies.

There are two comprehensive family trees within the book. One outlines the Retke-Schwanke-Alberts family and begins with Theresa Schwanke in 1810. The other family tree outlines the Dorale-Maack-Wiegel family and begins with Henry Dorale in 1798.
