Joseph A. Dear was the chief investment officer of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, the nation’s largest defined benefit plan. He passes away in February 2014 from prostate cancer after five years of service, and this memorial book is a commemoration of his time at CalPERS and the people that he influenced.
