Acerca del libro
This 76-page coffee-table book contains 100 photographs taken during a tour of Ireland in May 2014 that visited portions of the following counties: Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal, Rosscommon, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Wicklow, and Dublin. The large landscape format, 13 x 11 inch book depicts the dramatic imagery of the coast of Connemara, the villages of Roundstone and Clifdon among others, and the Sky Road to Kylemore Lough. Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden are magnificent. Achill Island and the medieval Deserted Village in the fog are haunting. The western and northern portions of the Republic of Ireland have an endless number of extremely photogenic sites including the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, Park’s Castle, Donegal Castle, the village of Killybegs, and the Slieve League cliffs.
The light was right on Doe Castle, the Fanad Head Lighthouse, and Glenveagh Castle. The mist over the ancient Grianon Aileach fort reminds one of life 1,500 years ago when the fort was occupied. A clear day provided a perfect opportunity to photograph Malin Head, the northernmost point on mainland Ireland. A special place in Ireland is Clonmacnoise Monastery that was the center of learning and scholarship from the 6th to the 12th century. Doolin on the coastal Burren in County Clare is unique. The Cathedral of Galway, Cong Abbey, Ashford Castle, Killarney, Dunguaire Castle and the Cliffs of Moher are all depicted in this fresh look at Ireland. Muckross House and Killarney National Park, Blarney Castle, the Rock of Cashel, and images of Kilkenny Castle at night help to convey a feeling of southern and eastern Ireland. Images from the medieval Glendalough Monastery and the many icons of Dublin conclude this photographic journey of Ireland. If you love Ireland, you’ll love this photographic tribute to the Emerald Isle.
