Daughter of Bengali parents, she grew up surrounded by authentic Indian cooking, and has developed a passion for the many cooking styles of the world, including Italian, French, Thai, traditional English and contemporary Californian. She is herself a brilliant home cook. Sharmita discovered her passion for cooking while living in San Francisco. Now residing in London she has committed herself to preserving these Indian recipes that traditionally pass down from generation to generation. In My Mother's Indian Cookbook Sharmita successfully articulates authentic Indian dishes for the Western home.
