This monograph is a collection of photographs of the Miyagi Prefecture of Japan taken between March and December of 1951 by Battalion Surgeon George Butler during training for the Korean War. The book portrays a vanished pre-industrial landscape of Japan shortly after the end of the WW II occupation.
