Henry Nash entered the First World War as a sergeant in the 20th Hussars. He was awarded the DCM in the opening months of the war, and commissioned into the East Lancashire Regiment in 1916. He fought right through the war finishing it as acting Captain. In WW2 he was too old for active service but rose to the rank of Lieut Colonel in charge of all POW camps in southern England at the end of the war. He was my grandfather, and this is his remarkable story.
