Travel far and wide with Tessa West’s collection of secondhand maps and free verse. She has a lovely ability to draw a line between a location on the map and the country’s terrain, helping you get lost along the way. So why not explore your wanderlust in the most unique way possible?
This publication was the result of collaboration between Tessa West, writer, and Writtle School of Design (WSD) of Writtle College, Essex, UK. The project was funded by the Arts Council and supported by the Centre for Arts and Design in the Environment (CADE), at the instigation of Dr Jill Raggett, Reader in Gardens and Designed Landscapes.
There was an exhibition of the maps which had been collected by Tessa over the years and more importantly the poems they had inspired. These were designed and curated by Jelena Mone (CADE) to create an exhibition of 24 images to inspire the students of Writtle College. In addition there were a number of workshops with under and postgraduate students of Landscape Design allowing them to explore their responses to mapped landscapes. The publication is the culmination of these activities and the successful outcome of a collaboration between Tessa West and Jelena Mone.

I am an artist born and based in the UK. My experience of self-publishing began by creating books to record and celebrate the work of artists and students working on collaborative projects. My latest book is inspired by a recent group exhibition I had with with the RAEAG, group of artists, living and working in East Anglia.
