A basic history of Pike County, Mississippi in its role in the American Civil War as told through the actions and trials of the Holmesville Guards (33rd Mississippi Infantry, Co. E) and the Quitman Guards ( 16th Mississippi Regiment, Co. E).
Men from Pike County, Mississippi participated in almost all the major engagements in the West and East during the war. These boys and men were true American Heroes. Their sacrifice should never be forgotten.

Since I'm a 'McDaniel', you may ask, "Why an I so interested in Barr history and genealogy". Well, I just love the study of history, and genealogy. The two seem to be right there together. Oh, there may be one other reason, I am married to a 'Barr'. The "Barr" family has been has been a part of Pike County, thus Mississippi history since its beginning. My father-in-law, V.W. Barr, Jr. was a special person, and truly a great friend. We began this project together about sometimes in the 1980's. It literally took this long to compile and complete what I have. Yet, its not at all complete. My failing health, along with the loss of computer skills and ability to stay focused has forced me into publishing what I have while I can still enjoy the feeling of accomplishment. Since I attempted to edit the material myself, there are errors. If you find one, just look over it. I know, I did few times myself.
