Acerca del libro
Jonny Slut pioneered the 'Goth' style in the early eighties with his cascading waterfall fringe and 'car-crash' make up. He later went on to run Nag Nag Nag, the hottest, hippest nightclub in London, attracting the likes of Yoko Ono and Cilla Black. He has been an experimental musician and performer and is a cult icon, whose life has been thoroughly documented in the media.
Now, for the very first time, Jonny has allowed private photographs and correspondence to be published in this limited edition, star-studded anthology, documenting the important work he has created with fellow collaborator Mike Nicholls.
Jonny considers this lavish collectors edition, this exquisitely bound, weighty tome to be, 'A gift for my fans, the definitive insight into my world, a stroll inside my mind if you like...It is my opus.'
He goes on, 'Jonny Slut, (that's myself) and Mike Nicholls are artists, and this book is a work of art'. To all of you that hold this volume in their hands, I dedicate it to you.
Mike Nicholls met Jonny Slut at the Batcave club in 1982, Mike thought Jonny was really stuck up, full of himself and something of a show-off. Jonny thought Mike was a nasty punk so needless to say, they did not instantly become friends.
However, the pair soon found themselves on the Batcave tour and one morning Mike noticed Jonny perusing a Coronation Street annual in a motorway service station. A mutual appreciation was realised and in that moment they bonded.
This book is a pictorial anthology, photo album, compendium, scapbook type thing, documenting their friendship from the early 80's to the present day. The squats, clubs, bands, fashions, friends and films are all here, from London to Jura, from to New York to Dorset.
Mike Nicholls (BA Hons. M.A.) has been a 'fashion designer to the stars', a nominee and his collections have been paraded on the catwalks of London and New York.
He is now a filmmaker and resides in London
He is also Debby Harry's friend on Facebook
