Acerca del libro
Still grieving for her father, 20-yr-old Camille Devereux swaps the French countryside for the buzz and excitement of London with one single goal: to make it as a professional singer.
Her search for a band is going nowhere until she auditions for Rounder, an accomplished black American session musician striking out on his own. Despite misgivings about her age and inexperience, he is persuaded to give her a chance.
Across town, corporate solicitor Ronnie Bannerman bemoans his lack of success as a comedy writer whilst consuming ever greater quantities of beer and spirits with is best pal and fellow Scot, Jimmy.
One night, out on the lash with some friends, Ronnie and Jimmy witness Camille performing - and Ronnie is captivated. Following some typically misguided match-making antics from Jimmy, Ronnie manages to win over the mesmeric young French singer.
As Rounder's band builds momentum, so does the relationship between Ronnie and Camille - until something happens that tears both their worlds apart!
