100 illustrated Chemo Fairies who make up Barbie's Battalion, helping her fight cancer. the fairies are irreverent females with specific job descriptions in their rowdy effort to combat cancer cells. Created for the illustrator's sister, the book is designed as a gift book with a place for individuals to sponsor their own fairy and leave a message of love and hope for the patient. the original intent was to create a relevant source of humor for patients who can benefit for something to laugh about in the midst of a struggle to overcome cancer.

I freelanced artwork and graphic design for 15 years before joining the art faculty of Arkansas' Henderson State University in 1991. I work in a variety of media, including pen and ink, oil, watercolor, and pastel. I taught pen-and-ink workshops for Rapidograph and still have a particular fondness for drawing in any medium. I published The Technical Pen, Techniques for Artists with Watson Guptill in 1992. The Fairies book grew out of my dedication and love for my sister, Barbie who has fought cancer for twenty years. The fairies were created to help her through chemotherapy when she needed to laugh and to have something to look forward to when she went to the mailbox. At the conclusion of her therapy I promised her a book, which I hope will be shared with others who face this awful disease.
