Acerca del libro
“Sanctuary” pertains to the employees and patrons of Boyz II Men barbershop in Savannah, Ga. The work was done in an effort to get acquainted with the local community and what it had to offer. Over a period of approximately three months in the fall of ’07, the theme of the work began to unfold, and based on the background of the shop’s owner, who happens to be a pastor of a local church and conversations with many patrons/employees, “Sanctuary” emerged. This body of work seeks to show the dual role of the shop, not only as an excellent provider of a service but a pillar of the community involved in the detrimental development of the area’s youth and disenfranchised.
