The biography of Dorothy begins with her parents meeting and marrying in the plains of West Texas shortly before the Dust Bowl that devastates their land and farming livelihood.



Her family then moves back to East Texas where Dorothy is born in the midst of the Great Depression and the Prohibition Era.
