Acerca del libro
This book contains over 100 photographs of the VMF 323 Marine Squadron known as the Death Rattlers and the Vought F4U Corsair!
WWII History buffs may know the story of the VMF 323. This book compliments the Squadron's outstanding achievements and success. This book offers amazing, never before seen images photographed by the men themselves. It gives the viewer a unique perspective. This fantastic book is a pictorial journey back in time to the Pacific during WWII.
VMF 323, lead by a young commander named Major George Axtell, succeeded beyond expectations or predictions. From April to August 1945, the Death Rattlers shot down a total of 124.5 enemy aircraft and twelve pilots became Aces during the Battle of Okinawa.
These photos are from my father's personal collection and photo albums. His name is Al Wells. He is a member of VMF 323 and an Ace Pilot. Most photos have never been published before and are rare, precious visual gems.
