Acerca del libro
The Slaney River runs through the eastern and south east region of Ireland. Starting from humble beginnings 3000ft up Lugnaquilla Mountain in the Southern Wicklow Mountain Range in the north at the Glenn of Amaal, the river meanders southward for 73 miles, through the rich farmlands of County Wicklow, County Carlow and Co Wexford, finally spilling into the Irish Sea at Wexford Town.
The tidal region of the Slaney River runs from the town of Enniscorthy to the mouth of the river at Wexford Town, a distance of about fifteen miles, where the river spills into the Irish Sea between the Raven Point and the Point of Rosslare.
Silt brought down from the higher lands mix with the mud of the tidal river creating varied and interesting landscapes. These food rich banks attract many species of birds, wading birds and mammals as well as flora and marine life.
This natural beauty is enhanced by colorful reed beds, mud banks, lush farmland, wooded banks, impressive sand banks and an abundant flora and wildlife.
