Acerca del libro
In the middle of the twentieth century a design aesthetic known as Desert Modernism happened in the Coachella Valley of Southern California. Modern materials and ideas were used to design and build sturctures inspired by the German Bauhaus and desert living. Palm Springs, California in the Coachella Valley is famous for this mid-centry modern architecture.
In 2009 I created a series of Polaroid photographs of some of the mid-centtury modern buildings in Palm Springs, California. I chose to use Polaroid film to match the retro feel of the architecture. I shot all of the photographs using 600 Polaroid film in my Polaroid One 600 camera. In February of 2008 Polaroid announced the discontinuation of the manufacture of all of its instant film, so I used up some of my precious supply on this
project.
All the Polaroid photographs in this book are the same size as the actual Polaroid.
