"Church and State: Semana Santa in Cusco" documents the sacred rituals of Holy Week and the untertwined governmental presence, primarily in the form of policy and military units.



Beginning with the liturgy and processions of Palm Sunday and the annual remembrance on Monday of the Lord of the Terblores (Earthquakes), the photographic journey continues with a mid-week hourney to the surrounding communities. Holy Thursday and Good Friday rituals come next, with Semana Santa concluding with the great feast of Easter, celebrated as much by flag raising and a military parade as by the Mass.
