Acerca del creador
The Janet Turner Print Museum at California State University, Chico represents the foresight of one of its faculty members, Dr. Janet E. Turner (1914—1988). As an art educator, painter, and printmaker she felt students and the community should have access to original works of art. She used her personal collection, now housed at CSU, Chico, as part of her instruction to printmaking students. Part of this collection contains the best of her students’ prints. In part, she realized the expense of producing prints, and she felt students should also see the best work of their peers. For those reasons she purchased their work. This mentoring of her students is a hallmark of the several generations of students she taught. Many of her students went on to professional careers as artists and educators.
