Los Angeles native Beverly Houwing has lived a life filled with travel. Since the tender age of 8, she has documented outside lands with a focused lens and a curious eye. The African continent became a recurring theme in Beverly’s work early on with visits to sites like the Serengeti and Masai Mara because of the sense of timelessness they evoke. Photography and travel continued to play a role in the direction that Beverly took and she returns to Africa frequently to see Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Zanzibar. Beverly’s photography has been exhibited at the G2 Gallery in Venice, California and at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles. She frequently raises money for animal welfare and environmental charities by donating her artwork to non-profits including Best Friends Animal Society and the National Parks Conservation Association.
