Acerca del libro
Step into a world where art becomes a vessel for healing and understanding.
Photographer Liz Jakimow invites you on a poignant journey through her personal experience of grief. Captured in the three months following her own loss, her evocative photographs sought to portray her emotional journey through the images that spoke to her during that time.
Nature’s Shadows and Cycles: A Visual Exploration of Grief
Shadows of Loss: In the quiet corners of forests, where sunlight barely penetrates, Liz’s lens captures the shadows that mirror the depths of grief. These darkened spaces remind us that even in our sorrow, there is beauty and solace to be found.
Life and Death: Amidst the fallen leaves and decaying branches, Liz’s camera immortalises the cycles of life and death. The fragile petals of a wilting flower, the gnarled bark of an ancient tree – they all tell stories of impermanence and resilience.
Light and Hope: But look closely, and you’ll find rays of light breaking through the canopy. These glimpses of hope remind us that grief is not a stagnant void; it evolves, transforms, and eventually allows new growth to emerge.
Accompanying Poetry: Liz’s photographs are interwoven with her heartfelt poetry. Each verse echoes the emotions she felt during those raw months – sorrow, longing, acceptance, and even moments of grace.
Let Liz’s photographs and poetry guide you through the labyrinth of emotions associated with grief, reminding us that even in darkness, there is beauty waiting to be discovered.

Acerca del creador
Liz Jakimow lives in the beautiful valley of Araluen, near Braidwood in regional NSW, Australia – which is not only a wonderful place to live, but provides many opportunities for taking photographs. Her home is surrounded by mountains whose personality seems to change depending on what the weather, and the clouds, are doing. Nearby, the lovely Araluen Creek provides a quiet spot for tranquillity and contemplation in the midst of busy days. She is also fortunate to be able to see the full moon rising above the mountains just outside her front door. Liz is most happy when she has a camera in her hands. Taking photographs immediately puts her into the zone, where she is lost in the flow of capturing the images that speak to her. It becomes a form of mindfulness, where all her worries and cares are pushed to the background, and she is solely focused on what is speaking to her at the time.
