Acerca del libro
A decade of my collages, from commercial design jobs (work) and my personal practice (play). The works featured in this book all started as cut paper collages. Although I eventually scan and digitally enhance these collages, starting with scissors/blade allows me to slip into a 'zone' where relationships between shapes, patters and colours reveal themselves to me in a way that is almost magical.
The book is a companion to 'Me versus Dalle' where I think about my collage practice in relation to AI image generators. What is the difference between my scavenging and remixing of found images in my collage work and the way AI trawls the internet for images to remix as 'new'? What are the ethics behind these practices, and how to we make sure we think carefully about the use of tools in our creative practice?
The two books, 'Me Versus Dalle' and 'Collage: Work / Play', were created as part of Blurb's Ambassador Program for 2023.
