Acerca del libro
“Project Aura” is a poetry book that documents my long journey into attaining self-love. Before self-love, I had to explore (with the help of therapy) how each piece of my aura was reflected in my life to work towards my goal. In each chapter, I explore what each piece stood for me through rhyme and metaphor. An aura to me is everything that the soul possesses. When one’s soul is broken, the other pieces start to expand to fill in that void. Toxic positivity, bottomless distractions, comfortable despair, excessive solitude, and self-depravity are some examples of what fills the void carelessly. I aim to document my journey towards self-forgiveness and self-love.

Irvin Garcia, a Boyle Heights native, has been exploring poetry for eight years since his first awkward high school crushes in 2012. What was once an indecisive tree prone to falling, he asserted his sturdy nature through diligence, passion, and patience by springing to his first self-published poetry book, “Falling in Winter’s Spring.” Irvin currently works with vulnerable populations at a non-profit organization that provides housing and retention services which has allowed him to empathetically write about these themes. During the weekends, Irvin enjoys going on random adventures with friends, rewatching his favorite movies, and listening to music that brings him nostalgia.
