Acerca del libro
During Michael Klinkhamer his many photo walks between 2013-2020 he was visually and culturally attracted to their fierce independence and river gypsy tribal culture.
The Cham migrated to Vietnam from Borneo and eventually migrated from Champa/Vietnam upstream into the heart of the Mekong delta and Cambodia.
People in a survival mode on that harsh and inhospitable piece of land close to the city of Phnom Penh.
Eventually the Cham were expelled from the Chroy Changvar land in order to "beautify" the city.
This magazine is a testament to the time "Before they made us disappear"

Acerca del creador
All my life I have been fascinated by images. As a photographer I have been making portraits and reports for well-known "glossy" and news magazines for decades. In recent years 2010-2022 I have mainly been active in Southeast Asia with my photography workshops and photo travel company. In Cambodia, for 7 years we have provided daily photo tours and photo safari and social photography for NGOs such as Oxfam-Novib. Portrait, repo and street photography. This work has now resulted in an incredibly rich photo archive and I am currently publishing these photos and stories in Blurb magazines and books. Always looking for the intimate image that touches the eye on different layers plays an important role for me. Filters and bias obscure the truth. I like real and pure. With the Blurb publishing, I found an incredibly satisfying way to print my work in a personal way and publish photos outside the digital social media jungle. Books and printed magazines are long lasting and personal.
