Acerca del libro
In fact Caturegli Formica’s attitude towards the world is one driven not by the intention to turn it into an orderly set of things, but by the recognition of disorder in all its heterogeneity, by the search for a siliceous structure in the pulverization of reality. It is an approach that is sustained by what is lightest and what pushes the gaze beyond, towards what can be revealed only by an indirect view, as if the image had been caught in a mirror or trapped under the lens of a microscope that allows us to look at microbiological reality. The practice of the two architects is one that, above all, implies acquisition of the viewpoint of chaos, of the confused mass..
They are simple signs, the ones that Caturegli Formica produces, images minimal even in their size, indications that, from moment to moment, lend substance to the atmospheric quality of a disembodied material. They are delicate and minute embroideries, whose subjects allude to sighs, to beams of light and optical images, to scents of seawater and rainwater, to tufa and sunshine, to the black light of darkness as well as to the livid one of winter. And, above all, to immaterial impulses, impalpable entities. Figural images of esoteric lightness that impress themselves on the memory more for their suggestion than for their content, which is yet to come..

Acerca del creador
Trained in the cultural milieu of Radical Architecture in Florence, Beppe Caturegli (1957) moved to Milan in 1982, beginning a collaboration with Ettore Sottsass, the Memphis group, and Terrazzo publication. In 1987, with Giovannella Formica (1957-2019), he founded Caturegli Formica Architetti Associati. His travel-inspired anthropological approach to design bridges industry/craft, global/local, and mass-produced/one-off dichotomies. This vision has resulted in a diverse portfolio, spanning architecture, unique carpets, interior design, paintings, industrial design and sculptures. His works are showcased globally at places like the Design Gallery, Nilufar Gallery, Assab One, Antonia Jannone Gallery, 44SPAZIO, 4IMBRIANI in Milano, FABBRICA nel BOSCO Monferrato, Citronne Gallery Athens, Artworx Athens, Céramiques Almadies Dakar and museums, like Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Centre Pompidou Paris, Mino Art Museum Japan, Metropolitan Museum of Art New York and and Triennale di Milano Italy.
