Acerca del libro
Environmental education provides a powerful integrating context for teaching and learning. This book showcases 15 examples of environmental projects undertaken by Maryland elementary students. Students investigate local environmental issues and problems and take action to preserve or restore the environment. Students are planting streamside buffers, monitoring water quality in rivers and streams, and developing energy conservation plans for their schools. They are engaged in research with scientific establishments, raising diamondback terrapins and Baltimore Checkerspot butterflies, building artificial oyster reefs, and cleaning up damage caused by acid mine drainage. See what happens when our students get their feet wet and their hands dirty!
