Acerca del libro
The topic of my thesis at Dynamic Media Institute at MassArt is to increase interpersonal connections and improve the communication experience between people through dynamic media works during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond. At a time when we are all longing for social interaction and cannot hug or touch one another, it is more necessary than ever to evolve and extend interpersonal connections beyond digital methods and traditional face-to-face models. The emergence of social distance has led to the alienation of interpersonal relationships. Internet technology has developed during this pandemic—we can now use the Internet to complete more of our basic needs, and we can also use it for remote learning and working. Unfortunately, people’s lives are more than just these tasks. We need more real social activities when everyone is trapped in a small house. My thesis focuses on the interpersonal connection and interpersonal communication experience during the epidemic. The inter- active devices I designed intervene and create new possibilities to promote interpersonal connections, improve the barriers of interpersonal relationships, and enhance the real-time experience of communication. By creating tangible and digital experiences that engage audiences through touch, my thesis aims to reduce the loneliness and negative emotions generated in the epidemic, creating installations and environments that bring people closer physically and psychologically.
