Acerca del creador
Manal J. Aboelata is Deputy Executive Director at Prevention Institute. Manal advocates for health equity, racial justice, and healthy neighborhoods. Manal writes and speaks about the environment and urgent health justice issues. She co-authored a chapter on community engagement in the text, Making Healthy Places and wrote the foreword for Schools that Heal: Design with Mental Health in Mind. Manal has served on numerous advisory boards, public committees, and expert councils. She currently co-directs People, Parks, and Power: a national initiative for green space, health equity, and racial justice. Manal graduated from UCLA with a Master in Public Health (Epidemiology, 2001) and from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts (1998). Manal was inducted into the Delta Omega Public Health Honorary Society (2001) and UCLA Public Health Alumni Hall of Fame (2009). She was named a “Shero” of California’s 26th Senate district (2012) and a Stanton Fellow of the Durfee Foundation (2018 to 2020).
