Acerca del libro
Empty Spaces: A New Normal is a photo book of the 2021 photography show by the same name, originally exhibited in Portland Maine. This publication includes the entire photo collection, plus written anecdotes and additional information and prose provided by the artist. Brown describes the collection as:
"A collection of my work in regards to the Covid-19 global pandemic. The collection addresses the impact of the pandemic on both tourism and everyday life in the world; it seeks to illustrate the eerie silence all around us; but, also shows the beauty of that stillness and an overtake of nature in an otherwise turbulent time. In each of my own works which are all black and white photographic prints, I explore the first harsh months of these impacts in Western Europe, where I was at the time. My hope is that viewers of the collection feel both a comforting sense of similarity and become aware of any differences they may find between themselves and the images taken half a world away, with all locations experiencing the same event worldwide."
