Acerca del libro
This collection of powerful images were all captured in one day, soon after the shelter in place restrictions hit Santa Cruz, CA. Photographer Amy Isacson was seeking to create a simple but meaningful piece of photojournalism documenting the early Coronavirus era. Using a telephoto lens and keeping a 10’ distance, she captured the raw emotions of that pivotal time. This series of 24 black and white portraits documents individuals and families on their front porches in Santa Cruz and the surrounding mountains. Participants were asked to reflect upon the rapid shift from normal life to the sudden emergence of the Coronavirus. One vivid image is framed per page, with accompanying stories from the subjects on the adjacent page. This book offers a unique look into those short weeks during which the world forever changed. Proceeds from the project were donated to Meals on Wheels, assisting the elderly sheltering alone in this sudden shift to social isolation.
