Acerca del libro
Grace Deal: A Collection of Pools from My Life documents specific pools in various parts of America. This book captures a visual timeline of Deal's most important aquatic memories.
Grace Deal grew up in Dayton, Ohio where she (like most children who are raised in the suburbs) spent every summer at the local pool. After high school, she spent nearly five summers and four year-round seasons lifeguarding various pools. In turn, the act of staring at fresh, clear, chlorinated water had essentially become part of her life. This was not a part of Deal's life that she expected to miss after moving to New York. However, It wasn't until the artist became stuck inside her small studio apartment during the worst of Spring 2020's pandemic, that these pool paintings took form.
